Procedure for Admission
Parents are encouraged to apply in writing on the prescribed application forms for admission for their son(s) before the end of the preceding year. However, entrance may be granted at any time of the academic year. An Open Day will take place during the first and second semester of each academic year to introduce prospective learners to a career at the DBCS. Demonstrations and auditions will also be conducted during national and international tours to accommodate learners who are not able to attend the official Open Day procedures.
The acceptance criteria are twofold. First the learner will be subjected to a voice audition. Once this has been passed, a school report needs to be assessed by the Head of Academics. When both of these criteria have been successfully completed, the prospective learner will be officially accepted into the school.
Learners from foreign countries, when applying for admission, must show evidence that they have applied to the Department of Home Affairs to legalise their stay in the country in terms of the Aliens Control Act.
Auditions
Whenever the choir tours, auditions are conducted for potential candidates. See "Tours" under 'Choir' to establish when we will be in your area. Otherwise, if you feel your child has musical potential, please contact the School as follows:
